‘God’s Country: George Jones and Friends’ Tribute Album Released

Red River Entertainment has released 'God's Country: George Jones and Friends.' The 10-song collection features some of country's biggest stars re-interpreting Jones' greatest hits. It hit stores on Tuesday (July 23).

The album was originally available in a limited release in 2006 via Category 5 Records, which subsequently closed. It has been commercially unavailable since. Recorded with Jones' participation, the collection features some of contemporary country's greatest voices -- including Vince Gill, Pam Tillis, Joe Diffie and Tracy Lawrence -- singing Jones' classics, as well as Jones himself on 'God's Country' and 'Beer Run,' a duet with Garth Brooks.

"Nobody in the world sings like George Jones, and nobody can sing like him," says Gill in a press release.

"Without George Jones we wouldn't have anything we have today," Lawrence adds.

The package also includes a bonus DVD of the making of the album.
