Gary Allan Releases ‘It Ain’t the Whiskey’ Video

Gary Allan has released the touching video for the single 'It Ain't the Whiskey,' off his No. 1 album 'Set You Free.'

The black and white video shows Allan performing the song with his band, while mixing in a story centered around a character (played by Allan) who has lost love. The track sits well surrounded by other sad stories on the album.

“Nobody cares if I’m happy, why would you want to write about that?” Allan tells The Boot. “I don’t want to hear songs about how sunshiny things are. I like the songs that are cutting edge and real heart-wrenchers.”

'Set You Free' hit No. 1 soon after its release earlier this year. The first single off the album, 'Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain),' hit No. 1 the same week, making Allan take notice of his own success.

“I never watch the charts,” he says. “It’s something I can’t control and it drives me batty. But it’s been so long since we had anything out there, I’ve watched every inch of what ‘Every Storm’ is doing, and it’s been a blast to watch it grow."
