Hosting the CMA Awards is one of the most prestigious gigs in country music. Since its inception in 1967 — which wasn’t broadcast on TV — the show has featured some of country music’s biggest stars at center stage.

Tennessee Ernie Ford hosted from 1969-1971, and Johnny Cash hosted four times, in 1973, ’74, ’77 and ’78. Vince Gill has hosted the most times, from 1994-2003. Brooks & Dunn took over from 2004-2006, while Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood announced this week that they will return this year for their sixth time hosting.

Our poll focuses on the stars who’ve hosted the most, but if you don’t see your favorite here, be sure to let us know in the comments section. Vote as often as once an hour, and don’t forget to follow The Boot on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and sign up for our newsletter to get all the latest country news.
