Eric Church Surprises the 2015 CMA Awards Crowd With ‘Mr. Misunderstood’ [WATCH]

Eric Church surprised the crowd when he took the stage at the 2015 CMA Awards to sing his new song, "Mr. Misunderstood."

At the beginning of the song, Church was on stage alone, with a backdrop that looked like a wall of different colored stone. When the pace of the song picked up, the backdrop lifted, revealing his band and even more lights. As Church strummed his guitar, the camera alternated from shots of the full stage to closeups of Church. The back-lighting of Church's band definitely added to the vibe of the song.

The surprise performance is in addition to the surprises that Church has been sending to members of his Church Choir fan club members, who have been receiving digital, CD and vinyl copies of the singer's secret album, Mr. Misunderstood, in the mail. The album was a complete surprise and features 10 previously unreleased songs. There is no official word on if the disc will be released more widely.
