Easton Corbin Is Ready to Roll the Dice in Las Vegas
Easton Corbin is looking forward to heading to Las Vegas this weekend for the American Country Awards, where he is nominated for seven trophies -- tied with Lady Antebellum for the most ACA nods in the show's inaugural year. The newcomer will fly in a few days early, since he is scheduled to perform at Boulder Station Hotel and Casino on December 3 and 4.
"I was really excited to hear about the [ACA nominations], especially with seven. That's unheard of for a new artist," Easton tells The Boot. "Just to get recognized with one nomination is a cool thing, but to have six on top of that and to be there with Lady A, I could never imagine that."
Any downtime Easton may have in Sin City won't likely be spent playing Texas hold 'em. "The only thing I've ever done is play the slot machines, and that's only a few times," he explains. "I've never learned how to play poker. I might get out there and try it a little bit. Like they say, if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
"I haven't been out to Vegas much," he continues, "and I've never been to a show either out there." Since he has a day off on December 5, Easton was hoping he could catch Garth Brooks perform at The Wynn's Encore Theater, where the superstar has been performing on select weekends since late 2009.
Last year was Easton's first time in Las Vegas, where he performed during the National Finals Rodeo. "I can't think of any better way to see Vegas for the first time," he says. "Since I'm a new artist I didn't spend much money on gambling, because, well frankly, I just don't have any, and I didn't have to answer to my wife when I got home. That can be dangerous."
The American Country Awards, hosted by Trace Adkins, will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Monday, December 6 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
