Dolly Parton Shares Details of Car Accident

It’s been a little over a week since Dolly Parton was in a car accident in Nashville. Now Parton has spoken out about the accident, with a message to fans concerned for her well being.

“I’m fine. As you can see!” Parton tells Country Weekly. “Judy, my best friend, and I were heading to the studio to finish up ‘Blue Smoke’, my record, and this lady just pulled out in front of us and we hit her. It wasn’t that hard. Thank goodness we weren’t going that fast.”

According to Parton, this is the first accident she’s been in, and while it sent her to a Nashville hospital, it wasn’t bad enough to put the safety features of the Nissan SUV she was riding in into action.

“Nobody’s airbags inflated or deflated -- mine or Nissan’s!” the voluptuous country legend continues with a laugh. “We were fine. Just a little sore and bruised where the seat belt went across.”

She adds, “I’ve never been in anything like this. All of a sudden, you just feel the pressure in your chest. But we’re good, we’re fine, thanks for the concern. As far as I know, if I die, it’ll be from something besides that!”

While recovering from the crash, Parton is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album, ‘Blue Smoke,’ and the accompanying world tour, which will kick off in Australia in February 2014.
