Dixie ChicksIt was just a little over three years ago that the Dixie Chicks went on hiatus after sweeping the 2007 Grammy Awards with their last album, 'Taking the Long Way.' Now, the best-selling female group of all time are making their way back into the spotlight -- in more ways than one.

There was a flurry of excitement when sister Chicks, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, formed the Court Yard Hounds earlier this year. And then more excitement in March when it was announced that the Dixie Chicks would hit the road with Natalie Maines on tour with the Eagles and Keith Urban this summer. And now comes yet another exciting development, as CMT reports the Dixie Chicks are releasing a compilation of their favorite songs on June 1.

Titled, 'Playlist: The Very Best of Dixie Chicks,' the CD is the group's first release in three years. The 12 tracks include two songs from 'Wide Open Spaces' (the title track and 'You Were Mine') three songs from 'Fly' ('Sin Wagon,' 'Cowboy Take Me Away' and 'Let Him Fly'), three songs from 'Home' ('Long Time Gone,' 'Landslide' and 'Truth No. 2') and four songs from 'Taking the Long Way' ('The Long Way Around,' 'Easy Silence,' 'Not Ready to Make Nice' and 'Lubbock or Leave It').

The songs are being remastered and released as part of the Legacy Recording's 'Playlist' series.

The Chicks will hit eight U.S. cities with the Eagles and Keith Urban, starting in June.
