David Nail, ‘The Sound of a Million Dreams’ Video Filmed at Historic Alabama Landmark

What does the 'The Sound of a Million Dreams' look like? David Nail has his own idea, but he didn't let that affect the recent filming of the tune's music video. The singer-songwriter worked tirelessly to make sure the the tune's music video didn't negate any varying images fans have imagined for themselves.

"Everyone has that song, or songs," David explains. "That's the most amazing thing about music: the way songs can hold your life. It does for me, and for just about everybody I know ... So, I didn't want this video to take anything away from the dreams that other people have in their music."

David and his band filmed in the clip at the historic Alabama Theater in Birmingham, Ala., which was constructed in 1927. The Missouri native was drawn to the city after playing a Bama Rising Concert, put together by Alabama, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley and the Blind Boys of Alabama, as a fundraiser to help tornado victims in the state.

"The people there are so soulful," he says. "You can feel the music moving through them, and you know it's a part of who they are. We didn't even use extra people in our video, but you can feel their passion for the songs and artists in the air."

The video, which was directed by Chris Hicky, does not have a storyline. Instead, it begins with the vocalist alone on the historic stage, gradually joined by each member of the band. Additionally, photos of David, spanning from the age of six to his now-30-something self, fill the screen.
