Darryl Worley has some special plans for the 2016 holiday season: He will be the celebrity guest on the Santa Train this year.

Now in its 74th year, the Santa Train will begin its run through Appalachia at Shelby Yard in Kentucky on Nov. 19. From there, it will travel 110 miles and make 14 stops throughout Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee, with Worley and the rest of the crew delivering 15 tons of Christmas gifts, food and winter clothing to families in need along the route.

“I said, 'Heck yeah, I’ll do it, and I’ll bring my family along and let my little girl get a taste of that reality,'" Worley explains to the Tennessean. “That was one of my deciding factors. And my wife is one of those Appalachia girls, so it’s going to be really special to her to see those children’s faces. It’s really special for my family and me. It’s not just me.”

Worley will also perform at the Santa Train's final stop in Kingsport, Tenn. The annual event is sponsored by CSX, Dignity U Wear, Food City and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.

"We are thrilled to have Darryl Worley join us on this year's Santa Train," says Tori Kaplan, assistant vice president of corporate social responsibility for CSX in a press release. "The support we receive each year from celebrity guests is humbling, and we know Darryl will add to the holiday spirit of the Santa Train."

Past celebrity guests on the Santa Train include Meghan Linsey, Amy Grant and Kree Harrison.
