Grascals’ Danny Roberts to Release Solo Album

The Grascals’ mandolin player, Danny Roberts, is releasing a new solo album.

‘Nighthawk’ features 10 new mandolin tunes from Roberts, with appearances from his wife Andrea — who has worked with bands like Petticoat Junction and Special Consensus — and daughter Jaelee on vocals.

Joining Roberts in the band are guitarist Tony Wray, Kristin Scott Benson on banjo and Tim Surrett lending bass.

The album features special guest mandolin players Sam Bush, Mike Compton and Ronnie McCoury, as well as fiddle contributions from Bush, Adam Haynes, Jimmy Mattingly and Aubrey Haynie.

‘Nighthawk’ is set for release on May 20. It is avaialble for pre-order on Amazon.
