Chris Young is thankfully on the mend after his recent leg infection, which caused the singer to go into septic shock and forced him to cancel several shows. Now that he is back on the road, he is finally speaking out about what was really the source of the life-threatening infection.

"It was an ingrown hair," he reveals to Washington, D.C. radio station WMZQ. "It was something that I thought got out and was fine. It wasn’t anything weird like, it wasn’t like I was having any pain in my leg or anything. It’s scary. Like I said, I left Nashville and was fine. Three-and-half hours later, I felt like absolute crap.”

After spending several days in the hospital, the 'Aw Naw' singer resumed his tour with Brad Paisley late last week, and is now ready to focus on music again, including the upcoming release of his next album, 'A.M.' The 11-track project, which will hit shelves on Sept. 17, was given that name based on Young's philosophy about his favorite time of the day.

“There’s plenty of great stuff that happens after midnight,” he notes. “People have a good time, fall in love, work through problems and relationships -- lots of good things happen after midnight, and that’s why we called the album 'A.M.'”

Young is still more than three weeks away from the album's release date, but he's already inviting fans to get in on the action. The 28-year-old has kicked off the Countdown to 'A.M.,' which lets fans unlock confessions from Young and guess what's inside his cooler for a chance to win prizes, including a personal visit from him and a late-night party at one lucky winner's house. He will also reveal songs from the upcoming album. Get more details here.
