Chris Stapleton's baby twin boys, who were born earlier this year, are happy and healthy, and his two older children have been remarkably helpful and kind regarding their new siblings: "They're doing far better than I would have expected with the loss of attention they've received in the past two months," Stapleton told The Boot and other reporters backstage at the 2018 CMA Music Festival.

However, the country star says fans should not expect in-depth updates and extensive behind-the-scenes looks into the lives of his kids. "I signed up for this," Stapleton explains. "My children did not. I am a very private person, and in that respect, I keep my children out of it. They're children, and they deserve the chance to be children."

In an age where social media can allow fans to feel as though they're almost part of their favorite country artists' families, stars such as Thomas Rhett and Jason Aldean have melted fans' hearts with adorable pictures of and updates on their kids. However, while Stapleton is grateful to his fans for their well-wishes, his stance is an important reminder that not everyone is as comfortable with sharing their personal lives with the world.

"My wife comes out [in the public eye], and she's an adult, so she can choose to do that," Stapleton explains. "My children did not make that choice, and [talking about them in detail in public] is, for me, kind of off limits."

Of course, that doesn't mean that Stapleton doesn't want to meet fans himself. During CMA Fest 2018, he hosted a pop-up shop inside the George Jones Museum in downtown Nashville, where fans could buy exclusive merchandise, including custom Louisville Slugger baseball bats. Stapleton also swung by the museum that Sunday (June 10) to sign autographs for fans, and hoped to make sure that every fan who wanted an autograph got one.

"I'm gonna stay there as long as it takes," he said beforehand. "Either until I pass out or everybody else passes out -- whichever comes first."
