On Thursday (Sept. 20), Carrie Underwood officially received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the recording category. The 2,646th star in the Walk of Fame, Underwood's new honor is situated at 1750 N. Vine St., in front of Capitol Records.

"How is this my life?!" Underwood reflected from stage, shedding a few tears as she spoke. "I was so blessed to be born into an incredible family ... They were incredibly encouraging ... There was belief there."

That belief, Underwood shared, is what helped her win American Idol -- belief in her talent from the judges and fans -- and further her career. "So believe in people," she added. "Believe in yourselves."

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell and Underwood's friend and CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley were on hand for the event, along with Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leron Gubler. In a brief speech in Underwood's honor, Cowell recalled the superstar's time on Idol. Specifically, he remembered how he was feeling disappointed with the competitors they were finding for that season, until Underwood walked into the audition room.

"And the show turned into full color at that point," Cowell explained. "I thought, 'We may have found a great artist here,' and we did ...

"I actually couldn't feel more proud ...," Cowell added. "You did it your way ... and I am so happy for you."

Paisley, meanwhile, reflected on Underwood's talent and how her star has risen since her American Idol win, even calling her "Miss Country Music" and this generation's Dolly Parton. He also noted, in relation to Underwood's charitable efforts, that she and her husband, former NHL hockey player Mike Fisher, live "the kind of life all of us would be proud to live."

"I just don't think we could ask for a better ambassador, a better person," Paisley admitted. "We love you, Carrie ... It's much deserved."

Underwood is part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame's Class of 2018, though her addition to the landmark was announced in June of 2017. In addition to Underwood, Mary J. Blige, Petula Clark, Harry Connick Jr., Ice T, Snoop Dogg and "Weird Al" Yankovic are the other musicians who are part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame's Class of 2018; Virgin Group founder Richard Branson also earnd a star in the recording category. Underwood is the only country artist to earn a Hollywood Walk of Fame star as part of the Class of 2018.

Other 2018 Hollywood Walk of Fame inductees include Jack Black, Jennifer Lawrence and Minnie Mouse in the movies category (among others), and Simon Cowell, Taraji P. Henson and Steve Irwin, among others, in the TV category. Charles Aznavour, Lin Manuel Miranda and Bernie Mac are 2018's live theater honorees, while Steve Jones is the lone radio honoree.

On Sept. 14, Underwood released a new studio album, Cry Pretty, after spending 2017 largely away from the limelight. In November she will return to co-host the 2017 CMA Awards with Paisley.
