Have you ever had chemistry with someone that was so hot, so intense, so jolting that sparks almost flew in the air? Where the touch of their hand made your whole body come alive? That's what Brett Eldredge's new single "Fire" is all about, and he wants listeners to re-live that type of dynamic, heart-pounding experience every time they hear the tune.

"Sometimes you get that connection with someone that is so on fire that it's fun to watch everyone around you stop and stare," the singer tells People of the high-energy track, off his upcoming record Illinois. ""Fire" captures that moment, and I hope it makes you sweat!"

Eldredge's deep voice is the perfect match to the high-intensity song, and the lyrics are especially heated throughout the whole track. "Here I am, breaking into a cold hot sweat / You ain't even got started yet," he sings. The "Don't Ya" hitmaker shows off his vocal prowess and even heads into his falsetto toward the end, making "Fire" a smoking song, indeed.

Fans who have seen Eldredge on Darius Rucker's 2015 Southern Style Tour this summer may have already heard the new song; he's been opening his sets with it.

"I feed off high energy," Eldredge tells Rolling Stone Country of starting his set on a red-hot level, "and by the end of the song, I'm already sweating."

Adds the 29-year-old, "This is just another peek into what will show my soulful, upbeat side on my sophomore album. We are definitely bringing the heat and can't wait for everyone to hear."

Eldredge's sophomore record is scheduled to drop on Sept. 11.
