Rehearsals at The Voice turned red hot recently, as Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley covered George Strait's 1985 hit "The Fireman." Paisley is mentoring Team Blake during this season of the TV singing competition, and backstage, the two country stars took some time to show off their own musical skills.

Both artists play the guitar, trade off verses and harmonize throughout the tune, but the most satisfying part of the performance is seeing how much fun Paisley and Shelton have together. While singing "Last night, they had a bad one a mile or two down the road / Well, my buddy walked out and left his woman burnin' out of control / Well, I was down there in about an hour or so / With a little mouth-to-mouth, she was ready to go / I'm the fireman, that's my name," the two singers exchange sly looks.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Paisley performance without a guitar solo, and he flies through it with little effort. Press play on the video above to watch the performance.

Paisley was announced as Shelton's team mentor for The Voice's ninth season in early August.

“He’s really been good to me, and so the fact that I was able to get him here and and advise my team made perfect sense to me because he was actually a mentor for me," Shelton reflects.

Paisley joins a long list of other terrific musicians who have mentored Shelton's team over the years, including Miranda Lambert, CherMeghan Trainor, the Band Perry and many others.

Shelton has already signed on for Season 10 of The Voice, which is set to begin in February of 2016. Season 9 is currently airing on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC at 8PM ET.
