Billy Ray Cyrus has been tapped to host the new season of 'Nashville Star.' The country music talent show will start its sixth season this summer and is moving from the USA Network to NBC.

"This year, it is all about the dream, about the music, about persistence and never giving up faith. Putting the music first," Cyrus told Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show.' "You know, I've been to the fair and I've seen the bear and I am really excited."

'Nashville Star' has helped launch the careers of Miranda Lambert, Buddy Jewel and Chris Young, to name a few. The new winner will receive a recording contract with Warner Brothers and get to perform at the 2008 Olympics.

Cyrus and his superstar daughter, Miley, are also set to host and perform at this year's CMT Awards on April 14.
