Country music's toughest female trio teamed up with Queen Bey for an epic performance at the 2016 CMA Awards. The Dixie Chicks and Beyonce took the stage with an entire cadre of musicians to perform Beyonce's song "Daddy Lessons," from her 2016 album Lemonade.

While the surprise addition of Beyonce to the CMAs lineup was met with mixed reviews when it was announced just a few hours before Wednesday night's (Nov. 2) show, the Dixie Chicks snuck "Daddy Lessons" into their setlists during their DCX MMXVI World Tour, and the song is a perfect fit for a country-pop mashup. From guns to whisky to swearing on the Bible, "Daddy Lessons" is all about Texas, and it's all about loving that country life you grew up with.

"And daddy liked his whisky with his tea / And we rode motorcycles / Blackjack, classic vinyl / Tough girl is what I had to be," sang Beyonce, revealing lyrics that sound exactly like they're in the middle of the country song. The Chicks' Natalie Maines took on the song's second verse while the stage revealed dozens of white-clad musicians from both artists' bands: There was a cowboy boot-wearing punk rocker on the saxophone next to a banjo player in white suspenders -- the perfect image for a song that bridges genres.

With 10 trophies to their name, the Dixie Chicks have won more CMA Awards than any other group in country music history. Their version of "Daddy Lessons" with Beyonce is available for download through their official website.
