On Saturday night (April 23), Beyonce dropped a surprise new album, Lemonade -- and among its 12 songs is a country-tinged tune titled "Daddy Lessons."

"Daddy Lessons" is Lemonade's sixth track. The song begins with jazzy horns and a "yee-haw!" before Queen Bey sings, "Came into this world / Daddy's little girl / And daddy made a soldier out of me ..." and tells the story of a father who teaches his daughter to be strong and always stand up for herself -- possibly with the aid of a firearm.

"And he taught me to be strong / He told me when he's gone / Here's what you do," the chorus goes. "When trouble comes in time / And men like me comes around / Oh, my daddy said shoot / Oh, my daddy said shoot."

There are no banjos or traditionally country instruments on "Daddy Lessons," but its catchy melody wouldn't sound out of place on country radio today. Its lyrics sound like something you might hear Brandy ClarkKacey Musgraves or Miranda Lambert singing, and its message of female empowerment is right in those artists' (and many others') wheelhouses.

Much like with her self-titled 2014 album, Beyonce dropped Lemonade without previously officially announcing the project. The record was made available after an HBO special, featuring clips of Lemonade's songs, premiered at 9PM ET on Saturday night.

Lemonade is available to stream via TIDAL and is available for download via iTunes.
