Country Music Hall of Fame Announces ‘American Currents’ Exhibit

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum spent the week of Jan. 9 revealing its 2017 special exhibit plans, and Friday’s (Jan. 13) final announcement was about an exhibit that will feature some of the biggest names in country music right now. American Currents (The Music of 2016) will give museum guests a look at the artists who are currently making waves in the genre.

In American Currents, artifacts from Kelsea Ballerini, Brett Eldredge, Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, William Michael Morgan, Maren Morris, Jon Pardi, Margo Price, Chris and Morgane Stapleton with more will help tell the story of the year 2016 in country music. The exhibit is scheduled to open on March 17 and run through March of 2018.

Each year, the Country Music Hall of Fame features rotating exhibits about country music’s stars of today. In 2017, to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the organization released its entire slate of planned exhibits for the year in one week (Jan. 9-13), instead of revealing plans throughout the year; in addition to the American Currents exhibit, the Hall of Fame has shared plans for exhibits about Jason AldeanShania TwainLoretta Lynn and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

“This year, the [Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum] celebrates half a century of collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of country music,” says museum CEO Kyle Young in a press release. “With a great mix of exhibition subjects that range from a legendary Country Music Hall of Fame member to the best of today, our golden anniversary schedule reflects one of the true hallmarks of country music — its constant evolution.”
