Adam Sanders' fourth single, "About To," is a catchy, pop-fueled country song that the artist says is different than anything he's released so far. Sanders recently spoke with The Boot about his latest tune and how he's ready to keep exploring new aspects of music.

Best known for writing hits for Luke Bryan ("Out Like That"), Dierks Bentley ("Sounds of Summer"), Dustin Lynch ("Hell of a Night") and Cole Swindell ("Ain't Worth the Whiskey" and "Dozen Roses and a Six Pack), Sanders has been taking steps to strike out on his own over the past few years. "About To" is his fourth release in three years, and the singer says that he's enjoyed discovering a new sound on the new track.

"We've tried to, and wanted to, show growth in each song that we've put out, and I think that "About To" is just something that's completely different from anything that I've ever released prior," Sanders says. "This is just another layer to the onion I think. And honestly, it was just super cool to put out a song that kind of tested some boundaries."

That ability to always be reaching for new heights, both melodically and lyrically, is something that Sanders says is important to him -- especially because he hopes to have a prolific career like his hero, Alan Jackson.

"I feel like to have longevity in this business -- and if you look at some of the greats -- all of those guys were able to stay around and have a long career by being able to do everything and not just be an artist that does one specific thing," Sanders reflects. "I think fans have not seen this side of me as an artist yet."

Sanders admits that, at times, it's hard for him to see fellow artists (and good friends) such as Swindell and Lynch earning fame before him. But thanks to their encouragement and the slow-but-steady career growth he's seen so far, Sanders knows that he's committed to his craft for the long haul.

"Every day to me is just another day to get better and improve on my craft," he notes. "I realize that this business is a marathon, not necessarily a sprint. And, a lot of times, I get a little frustrated when things aren't happening as fast as we all think they should, but at the end of the day, I wanna be around for 20 and 30 years, and so everything is shaping up for that to happen.

"Every day is just a day to work and get a little bit better," Sanders adds, "so honestly, it's just the everyday work of it is what I'm looking forward to."

"About To," along with Sanders' previous singles, is available for download on iTunes. Sanders will hit the road this fall as support on Eric Paslay's Angels in This Town Tour and Cam's Burning House Tour; a full list of his upcoming tour dates is available on his official website.
