Abi ‘May Have Been in Shock’ the First Time She Heard Herself on the Radio

Midland, Texas, native Abi moved to Nashville for college -- and to pursue a music career -- but she was back in her home state when she heard herself on the radio for the first time. Below, she recalls for The Boot how the moment felt, and how being home made it extra special.

I was actually in Texas! That made it all the more special, since I grew up in West Texas, and that's really where it all started for me.

At first, I was just processing what was happening -- I think I may have been in shock! After it really hit me, being in Texas, and that being the place I heard it first, I got pretty emotional. It was one of the most special moments in my career.

I was sitting in the car, and the second I heard my name, my heart immediately started racing. It was just an amazing feeling of accomplishment; I was so beyond happy I could experience that in my home state.
