The Americana Music Association is gearing up for the 2018 Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, its 17th annual event. The Americana music community will gather in Nashville this fall to celebrate "distinguished members" of the Americana music community with Americana Music Association member-voted trophies and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

When and Where Are the 2018 Americana Music Awards?

The 2018 Americana Music Awards will take place on Sept. 12 at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditiorium. The ceremony is happening during the Americana Music Festival, which is schedule to run Sept. 11-16 in Nashville, Tenn.

How Can I Watch the 2018 Americana Music Awards?

The Americana Honors & Awards ceremony won't be broadcast on television live. However, the organization is partnering with PBS' Austin City Limits as well as with CMT to share highlights from the event; the CMT broadcast will air on Nov. 28 at 9PM ET, while the ACL broadcast will air in February of 2019.

The night of the 2018 Americana Music Awards, the ceremony will be simulcast on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country station and on the Nashville-area stations WRLT 1001. FM, WSM 650 AM and WMOT 89.5 FM.

Jim Lauderdale has hosted every single Americana Music Association awards ceremony since the event's inception in 2002; however, in 2018, the Milk Carton Kids are taking over hosting duties. Additionally, as in in past years, Buddy Miller will lead the evening’s house band: Don Was, Jerry Pentecost, Joe Pisapia, Ian Fitchuk, Lillie Mae, Josh Grange, Jim Hoke and the McCrary Sisters.

Who’s Nominated at the 2018 Americana Music Awards?

The Americana Music Awards feature trophies in six categories: Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Duo / Group of the Year, Emerging Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Instrumentalist of the Year.

Margo Price's All American Made leads the pack of nominations for Album of the Year, a category that also includes By the Way, I Forgive You by Brandi Carlile and The Nashville Sound, Jason Isbell's critically acclaimed album with his band the 400 Unit. Mary Gauthier'Rifles and Rosary Beads is also in the running.

Price, Isbell and Carlile are also nominees for Artist of the Year at the 2018 Americana Music Awards, along with the legendary John Prine. Tyler Childers, one of The Boot's New Artists to Watch, is one of the nominees for New Artist of the Year, and I'm With Her are among the nominees for Duo / Group of the Year.

In addition to the category winners, a number of Lifetime Achievement Awards winners will be honored during the ceremony: Seven-time Grammy Awards winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Buddy Guy will receive the Americana Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalists at the 2018 Americana Music Awards, while k.d. lang will receive the Americana Trailblazer Award in recognition of lang's immeasurable influence on the genre.

Additionally, blues icon Irma Thomas will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her legendary voice and a career that's spanned five decades, and Olivia Records founders Judy Dlugacz and Cris Williamson will be honored with the 2018 Jack Emerson Lifetime Achievement Award for Executive. Rosanne Cash, meanwhile, will receive the Spirit of Americana Free Speech Award.
