Lady AntebellumWhen Lady Antebellum sat down to talk with CMT a few days ago, the main topic of conversation was supposed to be their new album, due out Jan. 26. But their hearts were so heavy with news of the earthquake devastation in Haiti, that the talk kept turning back to the horrific scenes and images they'd been seeing on TV over the three days before.

"My wife and I made a donation to the Red Cross," Charles Kelley tells CMT. "We were watching the 'Nightline' [coverage]. It was kind of eye-opening and overwhelming. I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was that bad. We were watching the images of people who had been out on the street for two days, bleeding, and there's nowhere to go. There's no recourse ... "

The massive 7.0 quake, which killed hundreds of thousands and also buried an unknown number of humans alive, hit close to home for Hillary, stirring feelings about how vital it is that we all reach out to take care of one another in the world.

"A friend of mine and his wife were in the process of adopting a little girl from Haiti, and I think they were going to get her," Hillary somberly reflects. "I don't know all the details but you can watch television and feel like you're separated from it ... but when something like that happens ... I mean, we're all in this world together, and we should all feel a part of each other. But whenever something like that hits close to home, with someone you know ... it just really puts it into perspective.

"You just have to hug your loved ones and do what you can. Any little bit you can give, give it. One, you're doing it for an unbelievable cause ... and if you do it with a pure heart, you'll be blessed for it."
