Garth Brooks and Pro Bull Riders Create Kids’ Charity

Eleven years ago, Garth Brooks founded 'Teammates for Kids' with 67 Major League Baseball players, to provide financial assistance to charities for children. The organization is supported by athletes who donate a predetermined amount of money, based upon their performance at sporting events.

On Friday (Jan. 8), Garth announced at a press conference held at New York's Madison Square Garden that he and the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) have banded together to raise $1 million in 2010 for 'Teammates for Kids.'

"Having the cowboys of the Professional Bull Riders as our teammates could not make me happier," says Garth. "They're premiere athletes, and I am grateful for their decision to use their gifts to benefit the kids."

Garth held his press conference on the first day of the PBR's 'New York City Invitational,' which ran through Sunday. Standing beside him as he made his announcement was PBR CEO Randy Bernard, three-time PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes and PBR co-founder Ty Murray, who's also the husband of singer Jewel.
