Phil Vassar has written literally hundreds of songs: In addition to his own hits, such as "Carlene," "In a Real Love," "Six-Pack Summer" and "Last Day of My Life," among others, the tunesmith has also written hits for artists including Tim McGraw, David Nail, Kenny Chesney, Jo Dee Messina and Alan Jackson, just to name a few. But for all of the music he has written, the singer-songwriter says that his best material might still be ahead of him.
Phil Vassar and Jo Dee Messina have a history of making great music together: Vassar penned two of Messina's biggest hits, "I'm Alright" and "Bye Bye." The two country hitmakers reunited at the 2015 CMA Music Festival during Vassar's show at the Riverfront Stage on Sunday afternoon (June 14).
For Phil Vassar, "The Sound of a Million Dreams," the song he co-wrote for David Nail -- which appears on Nail's 2011 album of the same name -- is really a tribute to the classic songs and artists that Vassar listened to growing up, the artists who inspired him to become an artist himself and create the songs he crafts today.
