Brandi Carlile was named Artist of the Year at the 2021 Americana Honors & Awards on Wednesday night (Sept. 23).

Changes are taking place amid continuing calls for diversity by Americana artists, who are optimistic about change but frustrated by what they perceive as a lack of clarity and transparency on the Americana Music Association's part.

The Mavericks, Keb' Mo' and more will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards during the 2021 Americana Honors & Awards.

More than 200 artists have been announced as performers for AmericanaFest 2021, set for September in Nashville.

The 2021 Americana Honors & Awards are set for Sept. 22.
