Kris Kristofferson and Dwight Yoakam are teaming up to play bad guys in a Western-style movie called 'The Last Rites of Ransom Pride.' Currently in production, the movie also stars Jason Priestley, Earl Brown and Peter Dinklage.

"We've really taken the time to get this cast," Nomadic Pictures exec Chad Oakes tells GAC. "It's eclectic and unique -- it's not a traditional Western. It takes place in 1910, and it has all the Western elements. Yet it could be construed as almost contemporary. It's really Sam Peckinpah meets Quentin Tarantino."

While both men may be best known for their music careers, neither are a stranger to the big screen. Yoakam, who plays a killer minister in the upcoming film, has appeared in such blockbusters as 'Slingblade' and 'Wedding Crashers.' He also stars in another movie due out this fall, 'Four Christmases,' starring fellow country superstar Tim McGraw, as well as Mary Steenburgen, Robert Duvall, Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn.

Kristofferson, who is cast as an outlaw in 'The Last Rites of Ransom Pride,' is also portrayed as the bad guy in another upcoming film, 'Powder Blue', due in theaters December 31. In fact, the country legend has four movies scheduled for an upcoming release ... to add to his dozens of movie credits, notably 'Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore' and 'A Star is Born.'
