Life-long showbiz friends? Check. TV co-stars? Check. Now, Reba McEntire and actor Melissa Peterman have added "Emmy Awards dates" off their friendship bucket list.

McEntire and Peterman were side by side on the red carpet at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night (Sept. 15), which they attended in order to present the award for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series (a trophy that went to the HBO show Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.)

Both onstage and off, the duo's charm and longstanding friendship was undeniable. On the red carpet, they chatted with reporters about their next project: The NBC/Peacock sitcom Happy's Place, which premieres next month.

The show is a reunion of sorts for McEntire and Peterman, who also co-starred in the beloved McEntire-led 2000s sitcom Reba. Several Reba producers have signed on to work on the new show, too, and McEntire's real-life boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, has a role, as well.

On the Emmys red carpet, Peterman explained that even though the characters and plot line are new, Happy's Place will bring the same chemistry between her and McEntire that fans already know and love.

"It's that same dynamic that people want to see," she tells People. "We talked about it, that we've been waiting a long time, and this time feels right. It feels like we were waiting for the right cast, the right time, and we're ready."

Happy's Place is currently taping episodes in front of a live studio audience. The show will premiere on Oct. 18.
