Jelly Roll’s Wife Bunnie Xo Explains Why She Speaks Up About Infertility
Bunnie Xo, who is a podcaster and wife to Jelly Roll, says it's important to her to share her journey with infertility and IVF.
Back in June, the couple first announced that they're trying to have a baby, and undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments in order to grow their family. They are also planning to have the baby via surrogate.
They originally intended to keep their journey private. But In a new interview with ET Online, Bunnie explains that she wanted to share her journey in order to combat the stigma that surrounds infertility.
"There are a lot of women who struggle with infertility, and for some reason, we're shamed and we're not supposed to talk about it," she reflects. "And it kinda gives you a scarlet letter, like, 'Oh, she can't have babies.' I don't think that that's right.
"I think that we're all just women who want a little piece of us running around in the world," she adds.
Bunnie is a first-hand witness to the judgment and criticism that people face when they're going through fertility treatments. After first sharing their news, she responded to social media comments which accused her of choosing surrogacy in order to avoid changes to her body.
- Bunnie has shared that she previously experienced two ectopic pregnancies and multiple miscarriages.
- She says she is pursuing surrogacy because she's afraid of further pregnancy complications.
- She is also in her mid-40s, meaning that she could have a harder time getting pregnant or be at higher risk for complications.
"I think speaking up about infertility is something that needs to be spoken about more," Bunnie goes on to say in her ET interview. "And I think that women who are going through that journey and that situation in their life need to be heard also."
She also shares that she didn't always want her own biological children. "But then settling down with my husband, being with him for eight years, I'm just like, 'You know what, I would love a little you,'" she adds.
Bunnie and Jelly are currently raising his teen daughter Bailee, who was born from a previous relationship. The singer is also father to a young son named Noah, whose mother has primary custody of him. Noah's mom typically prefers that he stay out of the spotlight, so he appears less frequently in Jelly and Bunnie's social media posts than Bailee does, but he walked the red carpet at the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards with his country star dad.
