Bill Monroe’s Historic $12 Million Tennessee Estate for Sale — See Inside! [Pictures]

The stunning Tennessee estate that belonged to country music icon Bill Monroe is currently for sale, and the buyer will be getting a piece of history.

Bluegrass Today reports that the pioneering bluegrass legend's 244-acre estate in the affluent Nashville suburb of Goodlettsville, Tenn., is currently for sale. The massive property is listed for $12 million.

According to the official listing from Benchmark Realty, the offering marks the first time the historic property has been on the market in 70 years. Monroe owned the property for 40 years and lived in the main residence on the land until his death in 1996.

Both the 5,413-square-foot main residence and a 1,890-square-foot cabin on the land are being offered as is, and it's unclear how well those structures have been maintained over the years.

The land is located at the very end of the road that leads to it, which ensures privacy, and the listing also touts "abundant wildlife" on the property.

The listing also states that the property has already been approved to be divided into an estate community featuring 21 homes, so the current listing is the "last chance" any buyer would have to make an offer and keep the historic land estate intact in its current form.
