Summer is nearly upon us, and with that comes boats, beers and beach songs. To provide your soundtrack for summer fun, Jake Owen is releasing an EP of feel-good songs to iTunes. The singer made the announcement during his fan club party as part of last week's CMA Music Festival, and even previewed one of the new songs, called "Summer Jam." (Watch below.)

"My life in the summer and all the time, pretty much, is about being on the water, being on the lake, and I wanted to make a summer-y beat," he told fans at the June 7 party. "I wanted to put out on iTunes three or four tunes that all my friends out on the lake can put on their boat and crank it up."

While the EP is still a work in progress, "The One That Got Away" singer shared a rough cut of one of the songs, which features an up-and-coming duo.

"I've been trying to help my friends that are coming up, and the Florida Georgia Line guys, so I wanted to do this song with them," Jake explained. "We were messing around with the whole 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night' thing and all, I love the vibe of that tune, so I did this song with them, called 'Summer Jam."

No word yet on when the EP will be released, but until then you can catch Jake on Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw's Brothers of the Sun tour. Their next stop is June 15 in Clarksburg, W.V. Get a full list of dates here.
