It's Christmas in June for Blake Shelton, who announced backstage at the CMA Music Festival on Friday night (June 8) that he's been in the studio all week working on a holiday album.

Fans who follow piano player, Gordon Mote, on Twitter may have been expecting this news. Gordon tweeted a picture of the two together Wednesday (June 6), writing, "Had a great day working on a new @BlakeShelton Christmas album. He's pretty fantastic!"

At around the same time, Blake posted a jovial introduction, joking, "Y'all meet my hair stylist @GordonMote!!! Follow the man!!!"

In March, Blake talked about his desire to record a Christmas album this year. He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is his favorite holiday tune, and that he's a sucker for most all holiday songs, "even the ones I don't even know what they mean."

"There's one on Anne Murray's Christmas album, 'Christmas in Killarney,'" he explained. "I don't even know where in the hell Killarney is, but it puts me in the damn Christmas mood. I listen to that one a lot."

Blake is back on the road June 9 with a stop in Winsted, Minn. Get a full list of tour dates here.
