As an 'American Idol' judge, Steven Tyler can only do so much. Early in season 10, the rocker-turned-judge deemed contestant Lauren Alaina "the one," but that endorsement that wasn't enough to give her a first-place finish. (She came in second.) Outside of the show, however, Tyler wields more power, and now he's helping the Georgia teen take the next step in her career.

"Yesterday: returned to idol & then went to the studio to record background vocals for the new Aerosmith record," Lauren tweeted last Friday, a day after singing her hit 'Georgia Peaches' on the reality show. "#ISTHISREAL? Thank u Steven!"

Although Lauren lost in the season 10 finals to Scott McCreery, her debut album, 2011's 'Wildflower,' landed in the top five. Anticipation runs high for the new Aerosmith record -- the Boston band's first since 2004 -- so the big-league rock crossover is bound to earn her some notice.

That is, of course, if Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry -- the group's perpetually feuding "Toxic Twins" -- can play nice long enough to finish the recording.
