Lady Antebellum return to 'American Idol' tonight (May 5) to premiere their new single, 'Just a Kiss,' which they finished up in the studio just last week.

The three have been working hard on their third record, the follow-up to the blockbuster 'Need You Now,' and are thrilled to be debuting the first single from the project on the popular FOX-TV show.

"I don't know if there's a much bigger show these days, and we're honored that they would actually want to have us on again," Lady A's Dave Haywood tells The Boot. "We'd gotten the call a couple of months ago about [the appearance] when they'd laid out the schedule for the finals for 'Idol,' and we were trying to work in the studio to get something ready, and it was kind of a good, safe target for us to shoot for. We tried not to rush any of the music based on any deadlines, but we were fortunate enough to have 'Just a Kiss' ready to be released and performed ... I mean, literally last week. We decided to go full force and release it."

"We love the show," Dave continues. "I've really enjoyed it. I think the judges are fantastic this year. I know Hillary has tried out, so she has been a bigger fan and has watched a lot more."

Having sold millions of albums, won numerous awards, headlining their own tours and collaborating with artists outside of the country format, such as Maroon 5, Colbie Caillat and John Legend, to name a few, the trio are still in shock when they get calls to appear on such shows as the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show,' 'Oprah' and of course, 'American Idol.'

"It's a giant opportunity to kind of get the music out there, and all these things, to be asked to do that. It was kind of shocking to us, too," says Charles Kelley. "We're still blown away by all these opportunities that keep coming in, and we still don't feel like we really have any celebrity or any of these things."

Lady Antebellum's appearance on 'American Idol' airs tonight (May 5) at 8:00 PM ET on FOX.

The band's next stop is at this year's Billboard Music Awards, which will air live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas May 22 on ABC. They are up for seven awards, including overall Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for 'Need You Now' and Top Duo/Group.
