The members of Rascal Flatts are in the pre-production stages for their summer tour, and they are planning something special for their fans. The guys announced last December they will host their own star-studded event, titled Flatts Fest this year, bringing along a half-dozen other acts.

"We actually just started putting the set together for that yesterday, designing it and going through and thinking about all that stuff," Jay DeMarcus tells The Boot. "But it's going to be called Flatts Fest, and it's going to be an interactive, midway-type of theme at the front."

While the specifics are still being sorted, the fan experience takes precedence. "We've still yet to dial in all the details, but we've got a lot of great ideas, and we're not sure how to implement them quite yet," Jay admits. "Over the next few weeks we're going to be getting really heavily involved in that and trying to figure out what's realistic to do and what we can do to make it a fun -- not just a concert -- but an event for the whole family."

While Jay can't tell us who else will participate in event, the boys likely won't disappoint. "We've got a lot of acts on there, and some of the acts we're still trying to work out deals with, but we're really excited about the people we do have," Jay explains. "It's going to be a great show. It's going to be an event. It's not just going to be just an opener and a closer. We're going to try to make it an entire experience."

One of the details they are still mulling over is whether it will be a full-blown tour or a weekend festival, but they certainly have a lot of inspiration to draw from either way.

"Country really hasn't had like a Lollapalooza," Joe Don Rooney told CMT. "There's a Buzzfest that happens here in Nashville. There's Ozzfest that happens nationally. We [thought], 'Let's do a Flatts Fest. Let's invite some big name artists out and just have fun and let the fans enjoy a big day of music, a big night'."

Rascal Flatts will perform their latest hit, 'I Won't Let Go,' when they appear on ABC's 'Good Morning America' Thursday (March 10), followed by an appearance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo later that night.

The guys also star in their first network television special, 'Rascal Flatts: Nothing Like This presented by JC Penney,' Saturday (March 12) at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
