Craig Morgan spent more than ten years as a soldier with the United States Army before he traded the military life for a recording career. But the Tennessee native is still a staunch supporter of the service men and women stationed overseas, which is why he left this week for his ninth USO tour, this time heading to Iraq and Kuwait as part of his Not Alone tour.

"In addition to showing our support for the service men and women deployed, I find a growing sense of pride in the good our country does while on these visits," Craig writes on his website. "We are not just fighting a war and helping people gain democracy and human rights in their own country, but our military is over there building hospitals and schools ... structures and plumbing that didn't exist before 9/11."

Craig's tour, which kicked off yesterday (January 27) will include five concerts at five camps with his full band, plus several acoustic shows for personnel at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) which are located in remote areas and rarely receive live entertainment.

The recipient of the prestigious USO Merit Award, Craig is also the spokesperson for Not Alone, an online community offering support and services for those in the military and for their families who struggle with post-combat stress, as well as aid in the transition back to civilian life. Craig is currently working on his sixth studio, which will include the self-penned 'Not Alone,' written to support the worthwhile cause.

Craig also joined several of his musical friends, including Randy Houser, George Jones, Gretchen Wilson, Charlie Daniels and Joe Nichols, in participating in the the Boot Campaign, which encourages Americans to wear combat boots for a day to show support for the troops. Boots can also be purchased online, with the proceeds benefiting the Lone Survivor Foundation and other related charities.

When Craig returns from his USO tour on February 3, he'll enjoy a few days of downtime before hitting the road for several shows, including stops in Florida and Texas. See his schedule here.
