After a bitter exchange of words with Britney Spears' Hold It Against Me' producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke, the Bellamy Brothers have decided to forgo legal action against the pop heavyweights for alleged infringement against country duo's 1979 country classic, 'If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me.'

According to TMZ, the Bellamy Brothers have called a truce, issuing the statement, "The Bellamy Brothers apologize to Dr. Luke and Max Martin for the Bellamys' public statements and any false impressions suggested by the statements on their website that Dr. Luke and Max Martin copy the works of others."

The Bellamy Brothers were immediately vocal about their discontent over the track, threatening legal action after the pop singer released the controversial single earlier this year. "If you listen to the lyrics of Britney Spears' new single, 'Hold It Against Me,' you'll find some major similarities," David Bellamy said in a statement. "Howard and I have no personal beef with Britney. She's a talented gal, but professionally [and] in all honesty, we feel completely ripped off. Where's the originality?"

Britney's production team, along with songwriters Bonnie McKee and Mathieu Jomphe, fired back with their own lawsuit, claiming the Bellamys' actions were "a publicity stunt aimed to increase their record sales, profit from plaintiffs' successes and to combat their dwindling relevance in today's music industry." The official statement added, "The Bellamy Brothers have embarked upon a malicious public campaign in which they have falsely accused plaintiffs of infringing the copyright in and to the musical composition 'If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me.'"

Despite the war of words, both sides have dropped their lawsuits. No damages have been awarded to either party.
