Just 12 hours after its release on Tuesday, Steel Magnolia's self-titled debut album captured the the top spot on the iTunes Country Albums chart. The disc remains at No. 1 as of today (Thursday, January 13).

The duo, Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones, spent album release week in New York City, performing Monday night at the Bowery Ballroom. It's perhaps fitting that the Nashville-based couple debuted the disc on the road, since Meghan told The Boot before its release that the album "takes you on a little journey."

The journey, however, is more about the couple's unique vision of country music, guided in part by album producer Dann Huff.

"We made it very clear that we wanted to create a new sound towards the front," says Josh. "But then we wanted to pay homage to our classic country roots towards the back half, and the middle of the record ties it all together. So that's the approach we [took in] making this record. Dann Huff really captured that and really executed it."

The 2011 Academy of Country Music award nominees (Top Vocal Duo or Group) are set to take the stage at Nashville's legendary Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday (January 18) for an Opry at the Ryman show which will be part of the ACM Showcase concert special airing January 27 on GAC beginning at 10:00 PM (ET). Fan voting for the ACM awards will also begin that day.
