Jewel Is Pregnant!

Jewel and her rodeo-star husband, Ty Murray, are going to be parents! The songbird found out she was pregnant on her very first day as host of the new reality TV series, 'Going Platinum.'

"I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!" Jewel, now in her second trimester, tells People magazine. "It was so hard to keep it a secret. I was worried I'd start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, 'Oh, she's pregnant.'"

Jewel and Ty have been very open about wanting a baby, as they've been trying to get pregnant for a few years now. "I have always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way," the singer says of her difficulties conceiving.

"We always knew we wanted to have a child, and this time in our lives feels right," adds Ty.

The couple tied the knot in 2008, after dating for almost ten years. They met at the Denver Rodeo and Stock Show, after Jewel scored tickets to the event from the car service she was using, which just happened to be one of Ty's sponsors.

"I began a US tour, and we began to talk on the phone frequently until we decided to finally have a first date -- about 6 months after we first met," Jewel tells The Boot. "I know the exact moment I fell in love with him. We were sitting by a river in northern California ... It wasn't any one thing he said -- it was his whole being. It was his quietness. It was his toughness and strength, but it was the counterpoint of his kindness that set it apart. I knew I would love him. I knew instantly that he would be solid as a rock and someone I could depend on."

Jewel and Ty live on a 2,200-acre ranch in Texas and are now converting the guest bedroom into a nursery.

"I'm trying to be in the moment and really enjoy my pregnancy," says the mom-to-be. "I feel really lucky."
