Shania Twain weathered a highly-publicized and painful divorce from her husband of 16 years, producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange in 2008. Now the tenacious singer is writing about her struggles, not in a song, but in a candid autobiography, chronicling both the highs and lows of her life, from her challenging childhood to her current romance with boyfriend Frédéric Thiébaud.

"There have been moments in my life I was concerned by the reality that tomorrow would never come," the superstar tells People. "Recently I experienced one of those moments to an intensity that brought on a sudden urgency to document my life before I ran out of time, before I had the opportunity to share an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words."

Still, Shania says the decision to write the book was not an easy one. "There are times in your life that are meant for reflection, and this was one of them. I began writing this book with a sincere respect for the past, present and future as something never to be taken for granted."

The yet-to-be-titled memoir, released by Atria Books promises to be a surprising peek into Shania's personal life. "The book will be a help and inspiration to many," publisher Judith Carr hints, "and those who think they know her from her music will be surprised at the raw and personal place she writes from."

The book, which is scheduled for a spring 2011 release, is only one part of Shania's return to a more public life. Rumored as a candidate for one of the judge's seats on 'American Idol,' she is also debuting a new TV show, 'Why Not? With Shania Twain' on Oprah Winfrey's new network, OWN, and continues to work on new music.
