Blake Shelton Says Next Six Pak Will Be ‘More Important’
Blake Shelton's new Six Pak collection is almost ready for sampling, but the singer admits he's a bit nervous about the number of fans who might indulge in this second round.
Blake launched the Six Pak concept with the March release of the six-track 'Hillbilly Bone,' which debuted at No. 2 on the Country Albums chart and netted ACM and CMT awards for the mini-album's title track. Still, it's the second disc he's more concerned about, perhaps with good reason.
"I think the second time around is gonna be more important than the first one," Blake tells Billboard, "because we'll see just how many people will go back a few months later and buy another album."
Of course, the next Six Pak already has an edge with the inclusion of Blake's hot new single 'All About Tonight.' Although Blake and his producer are still fine-tuning the next release, Blake says the songs 'Who Are You When I'm Not Lookin' and 'Suffocating,' co written by his future bride Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum's Hilary Scott, have made the cut.
"The difference in this Six Pak and ['Hillbilly Bone'] is we're going to have two singles off this one," Blake reveals. "Looking back on the last one, I wish we would've done that. We're kind of learning as we go here, and it's kind of trial and error. You can always find ways to make something a little better, and I think having two singles off it will help."
Blake also has a word for those who pine for standard albums -- the Six Pak releases won't replace his full-length albums. He promises his next full album "shouldn't be that far off."
Blake is currently on tour with dates scheduled into October. His next shows are scheduled for June 18 in Owenton, Ky., and June 19 in Martin, Mich.
