Laura Bell BundyCountry newcomer Laura Bell Bundy has been roped in for a coveted spot on the ACM Awards show with a performance of her debut single, 'Giddy On Up,' scheduled for the CBS telecast from Las Vegas.

While the singer is a Tony-nominated veteran of the Broadway stage, Laura's appearance on the awards show is notable in that she isn't even among the year's ACM nominees. Very few non-nominees are ever asked to perform on the highly-rated show. While Miley Cyrus did last year and Tim McGraw will this year, their profiles are slightly higher than Laura's at this point. And with the performance happening just days after the April 13 release of her debut album, 'Achin' and Shakin',' the honor is all the more nerve-rattling for the singer!

"It's the ultimate," says Laura. "It's not even being on television in front of millions of viewers – it's more like all of your peers are there and you're finally part of this community."

Laura reveals that to take full advantage of the huge honor, she's pulling out all stops!

"I want to make [my appearance on the show] interesting and entertaining," she tells PEOPLE magazine. "We'll be in Vegas so I want to do a little Cirque du Bundy – some tightrope walking, light myself on fire, real live horses."

While she's definitely kidding about most of that, what Laura does promise is that fans will be treated to plenty of the choreography as seen in the single's music video, and "you can pretty much guarantee I'm going to be wearing a pair of hot chaps," she reveals with a laugh.

The ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, will air live from Las Vegas, April 18 on CBS.
