Shania Twain Opens Up About Relationship With Fred Theibaud

Shania Twain turned 44 with a big smile on her face. The country superstar took to her website Friday, her birthday, to let fans know how she's doing, more than a year after splitting with her husband.

"I feel very much alive and well, ready to take on the gift of another year," she writes. "Living, loving, laughing and dreaming have become highest on my list of priorities."

Shania and her husband of 14 years, famed music producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange, separated in May 2008. Mutt was accused of having an affair with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, a close friend of the family and manager of the couple's Swiss estate. Since the split, Shania has found comfort in none other than the other jilted party in the extramarital scandal -- Marie-Anne's now ex-husband, Frederic Thiébaud. The two have been photographed on trips together all over the world, and were even recently spotted wearing what appear to be wedding bands on their left hands. After months of weathering speculation about her relationship with Frederic, Shania is finally opening up about her frequent travel companion.

"A dear friend and true gentleman by the name of Fred, has been the most constant companion of support for both Eja and me, and having gone through the suffering of his family splitting apart at the same time under the same extreme circumstances, he understood me better than anyone," Shania writes. "We leaned on one another through the ups and downs, taking turns holding each other up. We've become stronger and closer through it all, as have our children, Eja and Johanna (Fred's 8-year-old daughter)."

Shania, Fred and their kids have documented their travels in a video montage that Shania posts on her website. The video shows the two sightseeing, skiing, skydiving and flying through the Swiss Alps, where Fred surprises her by writing 'I love you' in the snow.

"Fred and I have certainly had a lot of laughs through the months," Shania explains of the video montage. "While sharing these images with a good friend of mine after each trip, she now affectionately refers to us as 'Lucy and Ricky Ricardo'."
