Since Wynonna Judd spends much of her free time at her large farm outside of Nashville, Tenn., it's no surprise that she's going the extra mile for man's best friends. The singer and best-selling author is now the national spokesperson for Purina's 11th annual Tour For Life. The company's multi-faceted adoption initiative aims to provide homes for shelter animals all over the country.

"My pets have always been a very important part of my life," she says in a statement on her website. "They are loyal, non-judgmental and offer unconditional love. Being the spokesperson for Tour For Life gives me an opportunity to encourage other Americans to share the same happiness. When considering a new family member, please stop by a local shelter and rescue a homeless pet, they will be eternally grateful to you for saving their life."

Purina will partner with North Shore Animal League America to host two Mobile Adoption Units, which will visit more than 100 shelters in 37 cities spread across 19 states. The units will cover more than 13,000 miles in one month, saving the lives of thousands of animals.

Wynonna isn't the only country celebrity to lend her famous face to Purina's worthy causes. The Band Perry recently partnered with Purina for their 'Double Dog Dare' campaign.

In addition to promoting animal adoption, the svelte singer will also be promoting her new reality show with her mother, Naomi Judd, which debuts on Oprah Winfrey's new OWN Network next month. In her limited spare time, she is also putting the finishing touches on a new studio album, expected later this year. For more information on Tour for Life, or to make a donation, visit here.
