Rising country artist William Michael Morgan is mourning the loss of a beloved family member. The singer's grandmother has passed away.

Morgan shared the sad news on Facebook on Wednesday (March 30) and asked his fans for prayers for his family.

"In almost 23 years, I've never seen my father cry anything but happy tears," the artist writes.

Morgan released his self-titled debut EP on March 18. The six-song project features his debut single, “I Met a Girl,” as well as five additional tracks, including one written by Morgan. The William Michael Morgan EP was co-produced by Jimmy Ritchey and Scott Hendricks.

Co-written by Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally and Old Dominion‘s Trevor Rosen, "I Met a Girl" sits just outside the Top 30 (No. 31) on the Billboard Country Airplay chart as of the chart dated April 9, 2016. Morgan made his Grand Ole Opry debut last fall.

Morgan’s summer tour calendar is filled with fair and festival dates, including a stop at the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival. His complete schedule is available on his official website.
