Country singer William Michael Morgan has said that he intentionally adopted a new approach to releasing music when preparing for his second album, the follow-up to his 2016 debut, Vinyl. This time around, Morgan says, he's releasing each new song individually, with a video to match, and allowing time for the fans to decide which of the new songs they gravitate towards the most.

However, there's one song that is especially meaningful to Morgan, and to his mom, too: He says that if his mother had her way, "Brokenhearted" would be among his next singles. Read on to learn the story behind that song, as well as why he always listens to his mom's opinion on new music.

"Brokenhearted" is a song I did not write; Rhett Akins, Marv Green and JT Harding wrote that song. Now, Marv Green and Rhett Akins also wrote [my song] "Missing," and so this song still kinda has that same feel -- that same musical vibe and that same real traditional feel with the lyrics, as well. I guess that's why I love it so much. I mean, Rhett Akins -- heck, he's been doing this for quite some time. He knows how to write a song, you know?

[My mom, who loves listening to the new stuff and has a good ear for music], she likes two of the new batch of songs the most ... One them is "Brokenhearted." If she had her way, both of those songs would be singles. She'd take 'em to the radio stations herself.
