Will Hoge has released the music video for his latest single, 'Middle of America.' The tune, which Hoge wrote with Jessi Alexander and Tommy Lee James, is the debut song from his upcoming new album.

The Tennessee native sings, "We're lettin' our freedom ring / Chasin' these small town dreams / Doin' what our parents did / Watchin' them shake their heads / Thinkin' we've all gone crazy lately / But we know it'll be alright, it's just another night / In the middle of America," while driving and walking through downtown Gallatin, Tenn., just outside of Nashville.

“All of those lyrics reflected all of our upbringings,” Hoge explains. “There’s always somebody who’s too drunk, and there’s always the frat guy and the jock, and there’s the guy that’s staying home and the girl who’s being broken up with. It’s everywhere ... We wanted to convey the idea that [life] is a little screwed up, and we all make mistakes, but it is what it is.”

The singer-songwriter, who recorded the song in the historic RCA Studio A, admits he debated about pitching the song to another artist instead.

“There’s always that moment of, ‘Do I want to keep this song for myself because I think it’s really great, or do I want to send it to Blake Shelton and make a whole bunch of money off of it? Maybe he’ll want it,'" Hoge says. "It’s a strange place to be, but I’m pragmatic enough to know that sometimes that’s the right play.”
