WE Fest 2016 Lineup: Eric Church
Eric Church has built one of the biggest touring careers of any artist in country music on the strength of his songs and his renegade appeal. Fans who catch him and his band at WE Fest 2016 will get to see the rockin’ country star at the very peak of his live abilities.
Church has a very special relationship with his fans, especially the ones he plays to live. He calls his most hardcore fans the Church Choir, and he doesn’t hesitate to go to the wall for them, taking some unusual steps on every tour to combat scalpers and make sure his devoted fans get the best seats they can at the best price available so they can take in his celebrated live shows.
He varies up those shows, too, making every night different for his crowds by moving songs in and out of the set list, throwing in acoustic numbers and making sure that fans are getting the very best, most exciting show that he is capable of giving them.
Church released his debut album, Sinners Like Me, in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2009’s Carolina that he really hit his stride. That album gave him big hits in “Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Hell on the Heart” and “Love Your Love the Most.” 2011 brought his first No. 1 album, Chief, and gave him two No. 1 hits with “Springsteen” and “Drink in My Hand,” as well as a CMA Award for Album of the Year.
By the time Church toured for The Outsiders in 2014, he was playing the biggest arenas in the country, and he’s done it all on his terms. In November 2015 he dropped a surprise album, Mr. Misunderstood, which draws once again on his unofficial status as a spokesman for all of the underdogs who eventually triumph in the end. He’ll play songs from that project and across his entire career, and likely give fans some surprise one-of-a-kind moments, too, when he and his band take the stage at WE Fest 2016 to headline Thursday night (Aug. 4).
