Vince Gill is undoubtedly feeling extra grateful as he approaches the holiday season. The Country Music Hall of Famer, who released his latest album, 'Guitar Slinger' last month, will host this year's America's Opry Weekend Thanksgiving Special.

The show will air Nov. 23 through Nov. 27 on several country radio stations nationwide and on the Armed Forces Radio Network. Included in the play list are heartwarming tunes like 'Home' by Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride's 'I'm Gonna Love You Through It,' 'God Gave Me You' by Blake Shelton, 'Temporary Home' by Carrie Underwood, 'Winter Wonderland' by Brad Paisley and Vince's version of 'Blue Christmas.'

The 54-year-old feels a personal responsibility to promote and preserve the importance of the Grand Ole Opry, especially to new artists. "As time goes on, you lose sight of history," Vince tells The Boot. "It's going to take someone like me to teach a new artist who Roy Acuff was, who Bill Monroe was and who Minnie Pearl was -- all the great stars of the early days of the Opry -- and that's my job. I'm supposed to do that, and they're not supposed to know it all. I never look down at them for not knowing the history, because I didn't either. When I was younger, I wanted to learn it and I still want to learn it. Those people drove the dirt roads with everybody piled in a couple of cars. They traveled tough, and we get to cruise around in big buses -- much more luxurious than they had it. I want them to know I respect them and am grateful for what I've learned from them, because I wouldn't know how to play this music if there hadn't been great mentors like that."

The Grand Ole Opry member is getting ready to kick off his Christmas tour with his wife, Amy Grant, next month. The couple, who have been married for 11 years, are still as in love as ever. "The bottom line is that we're still absolutely nuts about each other," he confesses to Parade magazine. "We were from the first time we met. It was just freakish -- like nothing I'd ever seen or felt. It's amazing how beautiful life can be when someone's kind to you."

'The Twelve Days of Christmas – Amy Grant & Vince Gill' kicks off Dec. 7 in Baltimore, Md. Keep track of the tour schedule here.
