Tyler Farr Takes His Vocal Rest Seriously in Post-Surgery Video [WATCH]
Tyler Farr revealed on Wednesday (Jan. 27) that he will be on total vocal rest for the next few weeks, following vocal cord surgery on Friday (Jan. 29) — and, judging from a short post-surgery video he shared on social media, he’s taking his doctor’s orders very seriously.
In the few-seconds-long clip, a female voice explains that Farr “just got out of surgery” and asks the country singer how he’s feeling. Farr, still wearing a paper surgery gown and looking … well, rather out of it, gives the camera a steady thumbs-up sign, before closing his eyes and looking as though he’s going to nod off.
“Got some really good feel-good medicine,” the female voice explains with a giggle.
He keeps his mouth closed and doesn’t speak one word during the quick clip — which, hopefully, he’ll have no trouble continuing to do during his entire vocal rest period.
Farr underwent microlaryngeal surgery to remove a polyp from his vocal cords. The singer first became aware of his vocal issues during the summer; when he canceled a show in Oxford, Ohio, at the last minute due to a battle with bronchitis, the problem was identified.
“This is the last thing I would’ve ever expected. I sing hard, and I give it everything I have every night, but I really believed I was putting my training to work,” Farr, a classically trained singer, says in a press release. “… [T]he sooner I let my body heal, the sooner I can get back out there — and the fewer problems I will have in the long run. To me, it’s never about the next few days, but doing the right thing overall …”
Unfortunately, Farr’s surgery derailed his plans for the 2016 Life Off My Years Tour with Lee Brice. To fill Farr’s slot, Maddie & Tae, Clare Dunn and Jerrod Niemann will be joining Brice on the road this spring. Dylan Scott will be opening.
